Restorative dentistry means repairing and rebuilding what’s already there — fillings, crowns, bridges, and everything in between. Dr. Yates practices with a comprehensive-treatment mindset: rather than fixing one tooth at a time in isolation, we look at how your whole mouth is functioning and build a plan that makes sense for your long-term health.
Because most of our restorative work is done in-office, you’re not being sent from specialist to specialist. That saves time, and it means fewer providers trying to piece your care together.
What Restorative Dentistry Covers
Tooth-colored fillings
Modern composite (tooth-colored) fillings restore teeth affected by decay while blending in naturally. Most fillings are placed in a single visit under local anesthesia.
Dental crowns
Crowns fully cover a tooth that’s been badly broken, worn down, or weakened by a large filling or root canal. They protect what’s left of the tooth and restore normal function. See our dental crowns page for more.
Dental bridges
A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring to the healthy teeth on either side of the gap. See our bridges page for more.

Restorative treatment plans can range from a single visit to a series of appointments spread across months. We’ll always give you a written estimate before starting, and can sequence treatment to fit your budget.

Restorative Dentistry FAQs
What’s the difference between a filling and a crown?
Fillings restore small to moderate areas of decay by filling the cavity with composite material. Crowns cover the entire visible portion of a tooth when there’s too little healthy structure left for a filling to hold up.
How long do fillings last?
Modern composite fillings typically last many years with good oral hygiene. Very large fillings or fillings in teeth under heavy chewing pressure may eventually need to be replaced with a crown.
Do I have to fix everything at once?
No. We’ll help you prioritize — what needs attention now for health reasons, what can wait, and what’s optional. You control the pace.
Will insurance cover this?
Most dental plans cover a portion of restorative treatment. Coverage depends on the specific procedure, your plan, and your annual maximum. We’ll give you a written estimate of your out-of-pocket cost before treatment begins.
What if I’m nervous about dental work?
Tell us. A lot of what makes dental treatment easier is knowing exactly what’s going to happen at each step. We’ll walk through it before we start.
